Inception (2010)

* * * *

A very good yet complex film with a wonderful cast (if nearly identical to those in the Dark Knight Rises) and a phenomenal soundtrack.

The complexity of the story, while alienating certain people, also helps to elevate this action/adventure into a more intellectual film. Nolan created a film where he was given total freedom to have fun, as was clear in Ariadne’s first dream sequence. The audience can be pulled into these strange worlds, even if they are confused by them, and it creates a fantasy-vibe to the film.
There are minor issues with this film is that it uses some of the old Hollywood tricks, such as where trained assassins never hit anyone, or if they do it is not fatal. This always makes the action sequences all too convenient for the heroes and therefore less interesting.
A good cast with individual characters however the main character (Cobb played by DiCaprio) is possibly one of the least relatable yet has the deepest back story. It is a shame the character could not have been better as this would have improved the audience’s view of the events.
