Monsters (2010)

A fairly realistic look at an alien invaded world with, sadly, fairly uninteresting characters and odd attempts at creating a forced romance.

The story may not have a lot of substance and excitement for a sci-fi thriller but this simplistic approach gives this film a realism which Hollywood often loses in exchange for audience pleasing wow-factor.
The relationship between the characters should not have been romanticised as it just made this film predictable and tedious. These two characters had to carry a lot of the film themselves and therefore there were attempts to intertwine backstories however this was unnecessary and seemed to just be filling time between alien encounters.
