Confetti (2006)
* * *
A very dry mockumentary full of British actors
which reveals in its daftness however only produces chuckles rather than
the belly laughs that these actors can produce in other works. Not a huge amount happens as it is meant to represent real life and it makes the film monotonous.
Martin Freeman and Jessica Hynes are in their
element as they are used to these improvisation, awkward roles however
many of the other British comedians, which this film is completely full
of, are not on top form on this film as they are playing people who you
are meant to laugh at, not with, however. Unfortunately cobbling a cast
of British comics does not mean that the film will be good or funny and,
although there are laughs, it is still nowhere near as funny as it
hopes to be.
The entirety of this film is simply build up
towards the weddings. The scenes seem to drag on slightly too long and
there is not a huge amount of substance as they constantly rehash the
same ideas, the oddness of these weddings. It would have been better as
an hour long TV special film rather than a 100 minute feature film. The
weddings do not really disappoint, they are wacky, however after the
extended build up the audience does get impatient for the ending.
